Thanks for turning me ...The man is doing it right. Thanks for turning me on to the middle age Nick Holly. I will definitely pick up his new cd and hopefully see him tour.

TomTAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36596203.post-45001413965280068852007-03-23T12:45:00.000-07:002007-03-23T12:45:00.000-07:00"The Beast In Me" is an absolute masterpiece. Lik..."The Beast In Me" is an absolute masterpiece. Like you, I prefer Nick's version to Johnny's. He brings the complex emotions in the lyrics delicately to the surface. A truly inspired performance.

I also enjoy "I Live On A Battlefield." Good description, Holly.

When I saw Nick live, I was also impressed that he had chosen to write and live as a mature, dignifed middle aged man. There aren't enough of them recording albums.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36596203.post-7757566027870035782007-03-23T11:02:00.000-07:002007-03-23T11:02:00.000-07:00Yeah, Nick has aged quite well. "Battlefield" real...Yeah, Nick has aged quite well. "Battlefield" really gets me. It should have been a hit! I was just listening to that tune last night. I love your reference of Nick dropping line after line (like hand grenades!). Also, the eery minor key and backing music just works perfectly. All the while, somehow maintaining a soulful almost Motown feel including the background vocals.

Check out

http://www.yeproc.com/news.php?articleId=4033

for some more info regarding Nick's new album. Can't wait!

SpencerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
