("If I Were a Carpenter" was a fine song, dammit!)

Gosh yes. And the Tim Hardin performance of "If I Were A Carpenter" is great. I think I heard his version for the first time on this collection (which is kind of like a good soundtrack) and it got me to look for more of his music.

I don't have a clear sense of the (many) other versions, but I was impressed at how the Tim Hardin version never asks that the song create a complete narrative. It isn't just imagery, there's a sense of narrative, it just isn't fleshed out within the song.NickShttp://beforeyoulisten.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36596203.post-13154876549527045882010-02-20T20:57:31.553-08:002010-02-20T20:57:31.553-08:00Somehow I have always imagined you as someone who&...Somehow I have always imagined you as someone who'd whomp the bedposts singing along to Rod Stewart!Holly A Hugheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17828633442418722187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36596203.post-20668913204603870862010-02-20T17:43:12.511-08:002010-02-20T17:43:12.511-08:00YOWZA, this is, like, the story of my life!!!YOWZA, this is, like, the story of my life!!!Natsthenamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03027430649885763618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36596203.post-39982042456012342492010-02-15T20:16:03.958-08:002010-02-15T20:16:03.958-08:00It really is a majestic moment, isn't it?It really is a majestic moment, isn't it?Holly A Hugheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17828633442418722187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36596203.post-34328334260537110022010-02-15T17:57:18.125-08:002010-02-15T17:57:18.125-08:00Yes, Rod was pretty awesome back in the day.
